Spades is a 4-player trick-taking card game played in two partnerships. At the start of each round, every player bids the number of tricks they believe they can take. Spades are always trump. - Bid the number of tricks you expect to win each round
- Follow the led suit; if you cannot, play a spade or discard
- The highest card in the led suit or the highest spade wins the trick
- Spades cannot be led until they have been broken as trump
