Trailhead helps you plan outdoor trips, find camps and trails, navigate routes, and keep essential map data available when coverage fades.

PLAN THE WHOLE TRIP

Build multi-day routes with camps, fuel, food, water, lodging, services, scenic stops, and rest days. Use Trip Planner and Route Builder, add vehicle details, organize drive days, save notes, and review weather and preparation before you leave.

FIND CAMPS, TRAILS, AND PLACES

Explore campgrounds, dispersed camping, RV stays, trails, trailheads, viewpoints, parks, visitor centers, fuel, water, groceries, repairs, medical services, and other useful stops.

Campground details may include site types, campsite counts, rig information, hookups, amenities, access notes, photos, weather, official contacts, booking links, comments, ratings, and field reports when reliable source data is available.

MAPS AND NAVIGATION

Plan and follow routes on Trailhead's main map with spoken turns, rerouting, a driving-safe compass, and Android Auto support. Add available public-land, topographic, satellite, trail, weather, wildfire, avalanche, water, and motor-access context. Current conditions and live overlays require an internet connection.

OFFLINE FOR THE ROAD AHEAD

Download selected map areas, saved trips, routes, trails, places, and supported routing data before leaving coverage. Offline content and source coverage vary by area. Live weather, fires, closures, reservations, availability, comments, and recent reports are not guaranteed offline.

TRAIL TOOLS

Discover sourced trails, review route details and elevation, build or import a route, download supported trail data, follow a trail, record a private track, and preview a route in 3D. Access and permitted uses can change, so verify current official information.

TRAILHEAD ORIGINALS

Download self-guided audio drives with mapped stories that play as you travel. A tour uses location only after you start it and stops when you end the tour.

GUIDED TRIPS

Browse separately labelled guided experiences offered by external providers. Availability, booking, payment, and fulfillment are handled by the provider.

COMMUNITY CONTEXT

Share helpful field reports, photos, ratings, comments, and place corrections. Community information reflects individual observations and may be incomplete or outdated.

EXPLORER TOOLS

Eligible Explorer features include the Co-Pilot voice assistant, trip briefs, expanded planning tools, and selected premium features. Some tools can also be unlocked with Trail Credits.

Trailhead supports planning and situational awareness, but it cannot guarantee that a road, trail, campsite, route, water source, or property is open, legal, passable, safe, or suitable for you or your vehicle. Check closures, permits, land ownership, fire restrictions, weather, access, and vehicle fit with current official sources. Carry backup navigation and appropriate safety gear.
